Chocolate Protein Shake for Fertility

I was inspired recently by my friend, Dr. Jennifer Blossom, over at blossomtobefit.com to begin adding fertility boosting smoothies to my diet. I'll be honest, although I'd like to say I drink them daily, it's more like 3-4 times a week. But because I'm drinking them often and making it a priority, I'm beginning to gain confidence in experimenting with flavors and ingredients!

One thing I've tried to add to my diet recently is protein, and this morning I really did not want eggs again. And a fruity, green smoothie just didn't sound good. Sorry if this is tmi, but on CD1-4 I generally crave chocolate. And that's the only time of the month I crave it. So this morning I was wanting what for breakfast? Chocolate. yikes.

So I used many of the suggestions from Jenni and it's quite honestly based on her original Fertility Boosting Smoothie, but it tastes completely different. This one does not contain any green food powder, so I'll be eating my greens later as whole food.

Chocolate Banana Protein Fertility Smoothie

Blend Together:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup milk (soy, coconut, almond, whatever you prefer)
  • 1 tsp bee pollen
  • 1 tbsp. gogi berries
  • 1 tsp ground flax

**If you are sharing this smoothie with your husband, add a couple teaspoons of brewer's yeast. Because it's a good source of zinc, it can aid in sperm production!!

I tend to make my smoothies smaller than normal, so I use smaller measurements. You can increase the bee pollen, yeast, and flax to 1 tbsp and add extra milk if you want!
