I thought we'd be wrapping up this series about physical, mental, and spiritual strength, but I believe the Holy Spirit was tugging at my heart. I didn't feel content with letting it go. We haven't dug deep enough yet. SO... we press on and we may get a little muddy in the process as the Lord changes our perspectives!
Watch this music video if you have a couple minutes! Grab a tissue first.
You are Flawless. Now onto physical fitness...
I want to remind you that by God's grace you are flawless. He doesn't see you as infertile. That's not your identity in Him. You are His child and yes He wants more for you, but you are flawless in His eyes.
So often we put so much emphasis on health, our fertility, progress... we take our focus off of Him and what He did for us. This series isn't in ANY way intended to make you feel guilty or less than or flawed. It's intended to turn our focus to the Lord and dig deeper into the tools He's given us so that we can give our best physically, mentally, and spiritually.
If you've been enjoying our "activations," I have another one for you! I really want to encourage you to continue going to God for even the smallest questions.
- Does he want you to take up a new hobby because maybe he wants to teach you something?
- Does he want you to do something as a couple?
- Maybe he wants you to do another 1/2 marathon.
- Maybe he wants you to lay down that marathon because you've made it a god.
If it seems silly including God in every little detail of your health, I want to ask you this- If God gave you a free detailed health plan that included a personalized workout calendar, a detailed cookbook that changed as you did, and a roadmap for mental and spiritual health, wouldn't you JUMP on that? Of course you would, because you would know that doing whatever the Holy Spirit led you to do would be the perfect plan and far better than anything you could create for yourself! So, now I want to encourage you to ask Him about your physical fitness.
Ask him to speak to you. If this seems strange to you... God cares about this? I want to tell you... yes he absolutely does. Here's proof:
Romans 12:2 The Message (MSG)
Place Your Life Before God
"So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you."
Go somewhere quiet... do the same steps as in this article but use these new questions.
- Is there a habit you want me to look at?
- Is there something I'm doing that I need to stop or replace with something else?
- Is there an activity you want me to add to my routine?
- What do you want me to do for exercise?
- Show me ways I can make time for what you're asking me to do.
- Is there something you want my spouse and I to do together?
- What do I need to lay at your feet?
- Show me why these things you're showing me are important?
- Is there anything you desire to change about my body image?
- Show me if my perspective needs to change in any area!
Why is this such a big deal in this series, Gird Your Loins? We're preparing ourselves for battle!!
Eph 6:12 "For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places."
A Fight to the Finish
Eph 6:10-12 "And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels."
