One family's foster care journey to parenthood

Most of you probably don't know that we were just days away from having a foster baby in our home when we found out we were pregnant with Farrah, our second-born. Foster care is so close to my heart, and at I Am Fruitful, we desire to encourage couples to grow their families the way the LORD is leading!! I hope this story from Hillary Massey will encourage you in your own journey!!

Early on in our marriage we were diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility. We had 2 unsuccessful IUIs that left us emotionally drained and with a IVF recommendation. We did not feel led to IVF and we decided to pursue foster care.

Foster care was always our plan after biological children. This already being on my heart made the decision to discontinue treatment easier. We knew we might not be able to adopt from foster care but that was okay.

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
— Psalm 37:4

God gave us the desire to be parents, so maybe that meant just being foster parents. Who were we to demand God make us parents the way we saw fit?

We dove into training, paperwork, and home studies. We were approved in the middle of the night, to allow us to receive our first placement of 2 little boys. We fell in love with them and were their Mommy and Daddy for almost a year. Two months before they were reunified we accepted placement of a 7 month old baby girl.

God's handiwork was all over that situation and we adopted her at 15 months old in April 2016.

My daughter's beginning was hard. And our journey to her was not easy. God made our hard places fit together and has shown me He can write beautiful stories if we just let Him.

I am finally in a place where I can truly say that Infertility has been one of my greatest blessings!
